What is Caribbean Tan:
Caribbean Tan is a sunless tanning product, it is are completely safe to use and in fact is much healthier than the use of sun-beds and direct exposure to the sun.

Caribbean Tan brings you the perfect way to achieve a natural healthy bronzed look. All around the world, tanners are switching off their sun beds, throwing out their self tanning creams, avoiding the harsh sun and converting to Caribbean Tan.

How does it work?

These are specially formulated tanning solutions for different skin types. The active ingredients found in our tanning solutions are DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) and Erythrulose. These ingredients cause a chemical reaction with the amino acids found in the skin.

The active ingredients have been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration in the USA).

Caribbean Tan introduced airbrush application – the first truly innovative breakthrough in the self-tanning industry in over 40 years. Caribbean Tan's Tanning System has changed the way people in the USA and Europe view sunless tanning. Caribbean Tan has virtually eliminated the problems associated with sunless tanning.

The specially made airbrush atomizes the Tanning System into a cooling vapour onto the skin ensuring an even application. One of the active ingredients in our Tanning System, Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), causes a chemical reaction with the amino acids on the outermost top layer of skin to produce a bronzed tan – much like the sun does  but without UVA and UVB damage to the skin. With absolutely no sun exposure at all, the tan usually lasts between 4 – 10 days. The way the tan fades and the length of time it lasts is dependent on how each person naturally loses his or her skin. In drier climates such as Johannesburg, skin is shed faster and this is why regular moisturizing is essential to prolong the duration of the tan.

There are no known harmful side effects reported from the use of any of our products, and it is a safe alternative to the harmful effects of tanning in the sun or on a sun bed. In fact all the active ingredients have been FDA (Food and Drug Administration, USA) approved. A very small percentage of people are allergic to DHA and may break out in red spots. When we see an allergic reaction, we switch the Tanning System to a DHA-free Tanning System. If you have reacted badly to sunless tanning lotions before, please advise us prior to your tanning session, and advise us upon your return.

Note that although there have been no known side effects reported with the use of the active ingredient DHA, as a precaution we do not wish to spray Caribbean Tan on pregnant women. If you suspect you may be pregnant, rather cancel your appointment.

Pre and Post Tan Maintenance
